Lopoline cabinets

Does anyone here have experiences (good, bad, indifferent) with LopoLine cabinets? I've been looking at their convertible cab, and thinking about picking one up. Their construction looks pretty good, and they are nearly local to me here in california. The lightweight cab is looking pretty good also - I can't do really heavy cabinets, so I appreciate the lightweight stuff that won't kill my back.

I could probably drive there and pickup the cab - I believe they're about 2 hours or so away from where I live. Might be a cool field trip - I wonder if they do factory tours?

I've got a Lopoline closed-back 1x12 w/ Greenback in it. It's a great little cab and I've had 0 issues with it. Then again it's pretty hard to screw up a 1x12.

Re: Lopoline cabinets

I have a 2x12 convertible I bought late last year when Lopo had a big price cut going on.

I was surprised by the quality when it arrived as it is a really nice cab. Very classy looking. I haven't done any testing with the cab open vs. closed as I usually favor closed, but I will get to that at some point in time. Likely this winter.

My convertible is the black/charcoal model. The charcoal grill is better than in the pictures on the website. The color is more constant and doesn't have the lighter sparkles, I think that was how the camera was hitting the grill.

The LOPO logo does finish the cab off well.

Re: Lopoline cabinets

I'd like to add that the closed back vs open back of the convertible did make a difference I like clean open back tones so I've left it open back but closed back it was tighter and more focused with distortion and totally rocked.

Re: Lopoline cabinets

Has anybody tried the Lopoline 2x10" closed back as a "detuned" cab"? IOW only one 10" speaker installed.

Just curious.

Re: Lopoline cabinets

I have 2 of the Lopo cabs and also an Avatar, an AB Custom Audio Cab, a couple of home builds and a Crate 2x12. In the Lopo's I have a 1x12 closed cube and the 1x12 "large" closed back that actually arrived today. The newer one is actually much nicer in the details than the earlier one. These are very well built cabs with solid workmanship. Closed back cubes from any manufacture are hard to find speakers that work well for me. There is something about the size or something. I would not get a second closed back cube myself. The larger 1x12 and 2x12 has been very nice and easy to find speakers that I like as well. The one that arrived today is awaiting a Weber Blue Dog i have ordered for it. I recommend Lopo as a great speaker cab - and actually even a great price.

I'm waiting for my Lopo Vintage 2x12 to arrive... it's going to get Eminence Red Fang and Private Jack speakers.

Nice combination.
We have a few different Lopo cabs. I would say they are very similar to Avatar. No complaints.

Re: Lopoline cabinets

I like the dimensions of the Avatar's a bit better in most cases is all. Lopo is a shorter cab.

Except for the Lopo Vintage 2x12; that's a pretty large/wide cab (30" wide). It's one of the reasons I picked it, since I plan to eventually put a Ceriatone 50w plexi clone on top of it. It'll match the head both cosmetically and in width. I also just like the vintage bluesbreaker look.

Yes, that is a very nice cab.
