Love or no love for this Telecaster

Re: Love or no love for this Telecaster

I don't like the pickguard, or the pickup-rings-on-top-of-pickguard thing. Easily fixed with a new pickguard, though, more along the lines of what the Tele Thinline has, if you ask me.

I also don't dig the TOM and stop tail on a Tele. I think a Tele should have a proper Tele bridge/pickup mount combo, but what do I know? Seymour Duncan himself does the Tune-o-Matic thing.

Re: Love or no love for this Telecaster

The bridge, pickguard, pickup, and controls look strange on a Tele (nice body and awesome neck), but it probably has awesome tone, has a lot of sounds, and a tune-o-matic bridge is always quicker for me to adjust than a hardtail tele or strat bridge.

Re: Love or no love for this Telecaster

Interesting guitar. It's full of things that many Tele fanatics will hate though.

It doesn't appeal to me personally, and the strange pickguard is probably a large part of that.

I really don't think people should complain about having trouble getting rid of a unique guitar. He obviously built it for himself, not to appeal to the masses. Having trouble selling something like that, just goes with the territory.

Interesting guitar. The Pickguard is ugly as sin IMO, but it´s probably a great guitar....

Re: Love or no love for this Telecaster

I'm fairly traditional when it comes to Teles so my reaction is pretty meh.

Re: Love or no love for this Telecaster

I like it.
I also like the pickguard - I love 72 teles...

A string through bridge could make the guitar even better.

Re: Love or no love for this Telecaster

I'd rock it. I'd take out some switches, but I'd rock it.

For the cash he wants for it, tho, I'd rock a new MIM 72 Deluxe reissue. mmmmm, mexican...

How much i$ the rumored figure on that? I've made an inquiry but haven't heard anything yet...

Yeah.

It's NOT a Telecaster. Tele's have a three saddle bridge with the pickup mounted to it...

This is a Tele-shaped guitar.

I'm WAY more interested in the neck which looks to be a 70's Fender... love that medium U-shape! I'd end up building a guitar around it...

Rest of it would be scrapwood....

Re: Love or no love for this Telecaster

the 72 reissue tacocasters are around $600 new...it says so right there on musician's friend...
