Low Noise Strat Singles???

25's Nemesis
Hello everyone.

Last night I put together my brother's parts-o-caster using a set of Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups.

When played clean, they lack a bit of the sparkle and chime that a true single gives up, but they are pretty good under gain and at high volume. They're clear, but still thick enough to play lead with them. I then pulled out my '77 strat with APS-2's in the neck and mid and a Lil PG at the bridge. The cleans are fantastic and the OD tones are great, if a bit brighter at the neck and mid than the Vintage Noiseless.

One thing though: I hate the buzz and hum.

What pickup would be closest to the APS-2's, but without the hum?

Is it the Vintage Rails? Classic Stack? VirtuAl 2? Classic Stack Plus? Hot Stack?

Thanks for the help y'all.

Classic Stack Plus

VERY TRUE!

Best noisless Strat pickups I have ever tried...I took them head to head with EMG's, Lawrence, Vintage Noiseless, Hot Noiseless, Kinman, and Lace...won hands down...

Re: Low Noise Strat Singles???

Just one more question: Are the Stack Plus pickups closer in tone to the APS' or the SSL's?

Thanks a bunch for the help, gentlemen.

Re: Low Noise Strat Singles???

The Duncan Stack Plus pickups are closest in tone to the Duncan Antiquity Surfers, which are similar to the SSL-1's.

IMO, the Stack Plus pickups are ballsier and throatier than the SSL-1's though. And the bridge pickup seems to have a thicker tone with a little more output than the stock SSL-1.

I think the Stack Plus would be the set to try.

Do you think that the neck and mid version of the Stack Plus would get along well with a Lil PG at the bridge?

I would say yes

I know.

Or yip.

Or yep.

Or yup. :chairfall :smokin:

I'm not ignoring you bro, I just need more input, as I've never really had an HSS strat, or know much, if anything, about Duncan's noiseless offerings.

Everybody's input is greatly appreciated. :)

What can I say, I'm not a strat guy. I'm a Les Paul guy trying to fake it. :smack: :alcoholic
