Low output from pickup

Hello everyone

Noticed that the output of my Nazgul bridge 7 pick up is very low and isnt even clipping the intput of my focusrite 2i2 interface with the preamp gain on 1/2 gain when I pick hard. There is some damage to the coils that you can see in the picture and wondered if you guys could let me know if you think this is the problem. Thanks everyone

do you have a meter to check the resistance of the coils?

Unfortunately I do not and I'm not sure how to use a meter anyways

We can teach you how to use it. They are super cheap online. It will come in handy when diagnosing these types of problems.

They are under $7 at harbor freight. Get one and check the resistance across a cable plugged in to the guitar with the pickup selected. That will tells us a great deal.

with the guitar plugged in, if you tap gently on the pole pieces of both coils, do they sound about equal in volume?

yes they are equal. just got a multi meter and it is reading 13.8k. the rated is 16.7k is this a normal amount less?

I often wonder why nobody has ever made sleeves to put on humbuckers like how the dimebucker and 500xl have the plastic surrounded baseplates.
