low output on pickup need help!

I have an LP custom. It's Japanese made back from 1970s. I dont know what model it is. The neck pickup is fine but the bridge one doesnt give out as much output as the neck. Any tips?

Lower the neck pickup and raise the bridge until the output is equalized between the two.

You're describing a normal occurence. The pickups are probably the same output, but you're noticing the difference in the position and the height-to-string ratio between them. You can adjust them, but mmost people find they like the bridge pickup to be wound louder anyway.

was it always this way or is this volume difference a recent occurrence?

pickup height is important , for sure ... be sure that the pots and caps are in good shape with good clean solder connections

if you need a change, what kind of tone are you going for?
