Lowering volume on high power tube amps, tips?

Re: Lowering volume on high power tube amps, tips?

Mine is total overkill also, but I can't say it isn't fun. I would like to get a volume box so that I don't have to take stupid measures to dial in the volume for playing at night.

I'd just tell you to invest in some cotton for your ears and not worry about it unless other people are complaining. Although from the looks of things, my room can handel alot more volume due to the slant walls and size. In any case, run a pedal into your computer and use your PC speakers for a late night practice amp.

Yeah, that's what my GNX is for. Hey man, pulling tubes really doesn't make a difference, and it's not worth the hassle of worrying about which impedence to select, I'd say leave all four tubes in, and run it through a 1x12. When I ran it through a 1x12, it made the most difference in volume reduction. That volume box helps a ton too, I highly recommend everybody who plays tube amps without a master volume get one, to me, it's an indespensable tool.
