LP Blues Cats ! Neck Pickup: '59 or Pearly Gates?

Hey ya'll Blues Cats around here, which neck pickup model do you like best on your Pauls? The SD SH-1N '59 or the SD SH-PG1 Pearly Gates? No other models please, just these two Your opinions would be a big help for making my decision. Thanks!

Hey Ghost,
I'm not exactly a blues cat but I dare say I'd go for the Pearly Gates. To my ears, the '59 has less mids and more pronounced highs, whereas the PG has more midrange to it. That's what I like and that's what I'd use. Well the PG was originally made for Billy Gibbons, and ain't he a blues cat of the highest order?

IMO a 59n can have a tad too much bass in an LP. A PGn is my favorite duncan neck bucker ever...I love it, and even though the PGb is not getting too much love I like it alot too!

The '59 may have an overall more pronounced high end, but I think it's more chimy than the PG. With the PG you get lots of sizzle and I find it pretty abrasive. I am not a PG fan.

the end of each clip has a little blues wanking with each neck p/u.

Pearly Gates by far. I have them in a set in my LP, I couldn't be happier.

Between those 2 I'd go with the PG which is very very nice in the neck.

Also, an Alnico 2 Pro would be a good choice.

Thank you for the great replies Gentlemen! I really appreciate it. Well, It looks like the Pearly Gates is the pickup of choice for the LP neck. And that's what I decided on! Got the PG with nickel cover today and you guys were dead on my Bros!!! Woohoo :arms: Never tried the PG Neck pickup before in a LP but man, this is sweeeeeet :dance: I love the Tone! Can't believe I've been missing this :smack: ! Thanks guys! I Have no ability to post sound clips but i will post some pictures for the heck of it
