hi all

basic stuff here

i was going to buy some duncans for my epi goldtop lp
(57 standard humbucker guitar, its not the 56 p-90 version)

i can get better choices on uncased ones,
my epi pups are wax potted, so is suppose
i'll need to buy covers,

is buying humbucker casings easy, are they standard
i was just going to get them at gfs or on ebay,

is is difficult to install open type in a case?

can I or should i repot them, can i do this myself

i'm planning to get PG neck and custom 5 bridge
and going to town on the wiring, page style

the only pups i have ever installed were straight swaps
on my jazzmaster, or simple wire swap at the pickup

Are you planning on ordering these new? Most Duncans are available with a cover for about $10 extra. Most of our forum dealers carry them in stock. LewGuitar, martin6stringcustoms, and Wymore Guitars.

the nickel or gold covers are pretty unique to SD pups...if you buy a generic set then they wont fit...so you need to buy a SD set

yes you can pot them yourself, there are some threads on doing it here...maybe in the vault. be careful though, or else you could ruin the pup

you should be able to order gold covered PG and Custom from any authorized SD dealer so that may be an easier option than putting the cover on and potting it yourself

do you need to pot them...im gonna say no. unless you are playing at really loud volumes then you should be fine with unpotted pups. i dont have any problems

thanks for the feedback guys

there are some real steals on ebay
on uncovered seymours, and I was hoping
to get them there, but if its too much hassle
i'll get the versions with the covers

thanks
