Re: LP replica builders

I played one of these. He builds them. Its a 50s Strandard too. Larry uses top notch parts. Not a custom but these rival CS Les Pauls in tone and feel.

If your looking for just a husk you could ask Larry if he would make one. If not he may be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: LP replica builders

No replica builder is going to build and sell a hulk of a guitar and let the end user finish it and while we're at it no replica builder is going to have a guitar in the $2500 price range...

What do you want...I know you are saying Custom but you said not 59...do you mean not a Standard as in a burst or what??

Does anyone have a recommendation of who might be able to build a replica of the Gibson Les Paul Tom Scholz model? I like the signature model but just can't see buying a guitar that is intentionally beat up and stained and scratched (even Scholz' old holes are replicated). I like Scholz' new color (removing the orginal gold).....and his replacing his bridge pickup.....but hope someone can replicate the '68 Les Paul and create a NOS model. Thanks for any recommendations!

If you buy a replica you'll drop more on it than your would the Scholz model...

Just buy the Gibson sig or buy a P-90 Gold Top or Deluxe and sand the paint off...on a budget you could even use a BFG and fix it up the way you want it.

Thanks....what is a BFG? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-les-paul-70s-tribute-electric-guitar I admit when I see an entry level Red Wine colored Les Paul like the one there it would be hard to want to change colors and maybe just change out the bridge pickup to replicate Scholz's bridge pickup. :-)
Very good points......thanks! I don't think they exist but would like to find a 7.25 neck radius Les Paul.

Re: LP replica builders

No idea about the LPJ...I suggested the BFG because it already has a P-90/Humbucker set up...

They are discontinued I think but there are LOADS of used ones out there...

Re: LP replica builders

There was a builder in Russia making really good replicas- Shamray. Might want to see if they're still in buisness
