LP Series/Parallel Tone w/ 50's Wiring and Independent Volume

This is a question for the wiring gurus. I am attaching a few photos. The first one is my diagram that I drew up. Let me know if this is incorrect. Like the title says, I am going for series/parallel on push/pull pots for tone controls, 50's wiring, and independent volume controls. I currently have push/pull coil split for tone controls. The second picture is the 50's wiring with independent volume control diagram that I am pulling from. The third is Duncan's diagram for push/pull series/parallel. Duncan's diagram has the push/pull pots in the volume positions, and I put a red arrow next to a wire that I don't know where to put in my situation. Is my diagram good? (sorry for bad pictures, my diagram is a little cluttered).

My diagram:

50's wiring with independent volume:

Duncan's diagram:

Red and white need to be connected when the pickups are selected to be in series. Your top diagram does not make this connection.

Good catch. Thank you. Does everything else look good? I wasn't sure where to put that one lead that I pointed to in the Duncan diagram.

You mean the black hot lead from each of the pickups? They look fine to me. I didn't see any other problems either.

Have you tried running independent volume before?

Re: LP Series/Parallel Tone w/ 50's Wiring and Independent Volume

I haven't tried independent volume before. Is that a bad choice? It sounded like a cool idea. But yes, the hot lead that runs from the pot lug to the push/pull switch lug (I don't know the correct term). Since the Duncan diagram has it all on the volume pot I wasn't sure what to do with my setup as they are on the tone pots.

Re: LP Series/Parallel Tone w/ 50's Wiring and Independent Volume

With independent volume the pickups will be loaded down when you roll back the volume. '50s wiring won't be enough to compensate for the loss.

But hey, give it a try. It's not hard to change it back; easier still if you attach the black wire to the switch and then run a single wire to the volume control.

It worked out great! I didn’t make any changes to the wiring. With my not-so-great wiring skills it seemed a little daunting at first, but in the end it wasn’t so bad. If I were to do it again, I would probably pass on the independent volumes since I rarely use that feature, though it is nice knowing it’s there. Good luck!

I always wire mine independent. Love it. Hate dependent.
