LP Standard, before and after Bare Knuckle Miracle Man VS a Custom

Re: LP Standard, before and after Bare Knuckle Miracle Man VS a Custom

Hey Rob.

Who's LP is that?

What did you all think to the MM? I had a bit talk with Chris about BKPs when I came up a few months ago to buy an Audix I5, said he may be interested in trying some out :)

If were honest, not impressed, you could get that sound from an A8 at half the price. Looks awesome dont get me wrong!! It's our friends LP, his names Will. Don't get too excited, Andy's still rocking SD's!

Andy who mate?

I've never tried an A8 so couldn't compare the MM to the A8. I have a MM in a BC Rich Superstrat stylee, so it shares nothing in common tonally with your test guitar at all. I love it in the Superstrat though, very 80s metal.

I've tried most of the Duncan line and find I prefer BKPs, especially the PAF stuff, so each to their own I guess! :friday:

I'd give it a listen, but it keeps having me try to download some kind of program that my computer is flagging as unsafe. You have a soundcloud or soundclick you could upload it to?

Dawson, he's about the only other proper LP player I know!!

Dont get me wrong, it's not a bad pickup by any stretch of the imagination, but I dont really see the price difference except for the messy cover, which I do really like if I'm honest! But it ain't worth £60. We just put a Seymour El Diablo in a Soloist and that ****in' rocked! Well worth the £90 of his hard earned cash. This Miracle Man is definitely loud, clear and aggressive with a tight low end, good rhythm players pickup. Very 'ceramic' style sound. Would do high gain extremely well.

RE: PAF's, IMO the 'PAF' Alnico 5 (probably a burstbucker) that came out of the LP was better for me. Little murky maybe but this Miracle Man might have been better Alnico instead of Ceramic. I'm not a PAF style guy except for neck pups (59 in a Washburn, Seth L in our Tele). Swings and roundabouts. After listening to the buckers on the BKP site I prefer them all Alnico.

RE: Samples to another site, no bandcamp or w/e they are, will upload to my site.

Ah. Didn't know Andy was using much in way of Duncans in LPs. I know he's had various sets in Tele's etc.

All BKP (and everyone elses as far as I know) PAFs are Alnico mag pickups. My favourites are the Alnico IV Mules.

Pearly Gates in his Paulman Super Strat with a Full Shred neck, SSL3 in his old White Strat (sold that guitar though) obvs the QP and Little 59 in the Paulman Tele, he sold that 80's LP and kept his newer one, think it's a Burstbucker and JB in that LP (don't quote me on that though) still got originals in his V. But he's been through a fair amount of pups and amps!!

Yeah, I know he had a stint last year where he was going through amps like most people go through underwear! :D

I think he was trying to sell the Elmwood the last time I spoke to him, that was a while ago though.

Re: LP Standard, before and after Bare Knuckle Miracle Man VS a Custom

Elmwood sold and he got a Statesman dual el34. That was nice! Then he acquired a 50w version of his Randall that sounds nothing like his 100, still got that but brought a JVM 50w. Keeps buying modules for his MTS' but his best setup is the JVM and the Randall. Both very good!

I'd just got my Splawn the last time I saw him, so that's got to be about September or October time.

I've never tried a JVM or a Randall tbh. The Quick Rod ended my amp search so haven't tried anything else since.

Re: LP Standard, before and after Bare Knuckle Miracle Man VS a Custom

I did that when I brought my SVT4PRO. I don't even look at bass amps anymore.
