LP STD '59 Bridge/Pearly Neck = almost there

So very close to what I am looking for out of my Les Paul Standard. I need just a little more oomph out of the Bridge '59 and maybe just a pubie more low out of the Pearly Gates Neck. I've already tried the Pearly Bridge, Custom 5, Classic Plus. Nay suggestions from the Seymour line? How do the Antiquities match up against my current pickups? I do prefer new looking gold covers.

I think the best association I can think of is Gary Moore "Still got the Blues" when he does the solo starting on the neck and then switches to the bridge... Pow, that is what I am seeking.
Thanks

A2P Neck and PG Bridge?

PG neck and Custom Bridge - turn up the bass on the amp a little, tilt the pup, raise the screws?

How long have you been using the PG/59 combo....

How about just raising the bridge pu a tad? (if you haven't done so already of course ;))

Brobucker maybe??? ;)

*edit*: I just saw that you might be new here... the brobucker is a custom shop pick-up that's wound at 10k, meaning it should get a little more power than the '59 at the bridge...

The custom (sh-5) is a good idea, altho it is more aggressive than the '59...

Re: LP STD '59 Bridge/Pearly Neck = almost there

Thanks for the advice. I think I've got them set at the optimum height. Don't get me wrong, I think the Paul sounds better now than it has. just looking to turn it up another notch. I'm really not a fan of the PG bridge. I bought one that was DOA and then waited 3 more weeks and didn't care for it. I now know what sizzle means. I had tried a Demon in there (that is 10K). I love the Demon in my strat, but not the Paul. There is a bit of a gap in the Duncan product line between 8.3K (PG) and the Demon or Brobucker at about 10K.

Are the brobuckers available in the custom shop? I thought it was just a one time deal?

The custom shop will wind you whatever you want, whenever you want... including a Brobucker ;). The only thing that was a limited offer about it was the price we got for ordering it as a group...

Maybe putting some "regular" pole-pieces would make the demon more les paul-friendly? I suspect this would change the tone a bit... I think some guys did that mod a while ago...

With that said, I'm using a Custom/PG combo in my LTD ec-1000 and it is a great sounding combo...

That's the A2 mag sound.

Best pickups I've heard yet to cop that tone in a Paula are the Burstbucker 1/2....mismatched wind A2s. I've not heard the antquities, but maybe they will get you there...Seths and PGs really wont do it IME...they don't have the "honk"....pgs are too bright/nasty, and the Seths are too smooth.

PGn/CCb is what Lew is hot on these days...

I've done the 12 fillister screws on my SD. It works great in my Hamer this way.

As far as which pickups to go with, I think that a PGb/C5 or PGb/Custom combo should do what you want.

Looks like you'd love the BroBucker. From what I remember of my LP with a Demon, I can confidently say that they sound different, especially the highs of the demon what made me get rid of it. I don't like them hex pickups!

Good luck.

PS. Another route you could take is to get hold of a bridge antiquity, a little hot like 8.70K or so. Then swap its stock magnet with an a5 (you could use the one in your 59b). That bucker is one of the best and stands tall against the most expensive boutique PAF clones. ;)
