lp trad bridge pup

so i got this lp traditional a while back. played it with the stock 57/57+ for a while then switched to an antiqutity set which was a big improvement. eventually i swapped the aged a2 in the neck to a3 which im very happy with. im still not satisfied with the bridge pup though, too thin sounding. i have plans to swap it to a full strength a2 on the next string change but wondering what yall might think.

Re: lp trad bridge pup

Good idea. There's also double thick A2 for even more output and fullness. Give that vintage wind all the help it can get.

Re: lp trad bridge pup

A2 will be the warmest mag. Also keep the pup close to the strings for the most fullness and volume. But you already know that.

Re: lp trad bridge pup

i dont need more output really so the double thick a2 might not be my first choice. even the full strength a2 will give me a bit more output so going 2x is gonna be overkill

Re: lp trad bridge pup

It won't be overkill. It deepens the sound from the ice pick vintage wind. A2 ain't that strong.

Re: lp trad bridge pup

its not ice picky at all, just thin sounding. the top end is nice and sweet which is why ive been so hesitant to change. who makes a real double thick a2 magnet? the only ones ive seen are composites

Re: lp trad bridge pup

That's wat I'm saying. Double thick makes it fuller and will make it sound less thin. Cermag will bond 2 regular thickness and remagnetize if you contact them.

Re: lp trad bridge pup

You can. Cermag said they'll degauss each other partially after you force them together.

how do they bond them together?

i have a seth bridge, pgb, aph1b, and wlh b laying around that i could put in too but there is a sweetness to the antiquity wind id really like to keep if i can

Re: lp trad bridge pup

i have a pile of a2 magnets so if i can just glue two together then remagnetize id rather do that

Re: lp trad bridge pup

I'm sure that would work. I've been wanting to do that. I haven't investigated the best way to bond them. What magnetizer do you use?

Re: lp trad bridge pup

i have two methods. usually i just use two neo disks but i also have a homemade "magnetizer" which is basically a big horseshoe wrapped in wire attached to a variac. its not actually a horseshoe but it looks like one. the variac allows me to adjust the strength of the field so i can try different strengths
