LTD's

[Rotten Guitar String]

I've heard from some people that ESP Ltd's are cheap, poor quality guitars. What is your view on these instruments. Do you think that they are good bang for buck? Personally, I think they are excellent for the price.

all depends on the model, some are awesome, and some i've played(the really cheap ones) just flat out suck.

I've heard that the LTD series starts getting good around the 300/400 mark and upwards.

they are good for the money but that's it. Due to my last ordeal with LTD's, I'll never buy one again. (EC-1000 for $735)

Most of the guys here know because I bitched about it to no end. I went through about 5-6 of those guitars in a one year span. Either UPS destroyed perfectly good ones or ones that I recieved had some kind of issue with them that QC let slip through. They are hard to get a hold of also, usually out of stock most everywhere so I had to wait 2-3 months at a time for them to come back in stock when I recieved a damaged one. After a while I just said the hell with it and couldn't be happier. Oh, and since lately they've had a hard time keeping up with demand, I think they've been letting more "questionable" ones slip through QC lately. Stay away from the EC-1000, a 24 fret neck on it is stupid because you can't reach those frets anyway because the cutaway isn't deep enough and it makes the neck pickup sound like poop. The EC-400ats is very cool though and comes with duncans.

I think their 400 range is the best value, they are built just like the 1000 series, the only difference is no fancy binding or inlays, big deal. And they come with nice pickups from the factory.

Cheers. I want the 400AT, for the price off music123.com it seems like a total bargain. LTDs ive played have all been good solid guitars, nice to play and now with the 400 range having nice pups and hardware, dunno how i can turn down!

I've never played one, but im guessing its the same as any bang for the buck guitar i've played. there are usally some bad apples and some gems.

my ESP EX400BD is a dream come true, i love the thing. i play metal so its perfect..only problem was pickups..EMGs are too powerful for ne good form of cleans but a lot of thir gutiars are now focsed towards the metal scene cause they all play them

I was getting a pretty good clean tone when I played an 81 the other day. Not great though, but ok.

I love my H-400, and I will likely get an MH-400 with EMG's soon :32:

i love my ex-351. i actually wish that the 400 series came with HZ's like the old 300 series, but still with all the upgraded hardware. cause i know what i really want is duncans, so if they came with HZ's, they would cost about $150 less, and that way i could have the extra cash to get a nice set of duncans. oh well. the least they could do is not have an 81 in the neck position in almost all of the 400 series. put a 60 in there, ESP!

I´ll put it this way: Ltd´s are good guitars for the money... but there´s a good reason other guitars are more expensive, and it´s not just cosmetics

i agree. i like the ltd explorers i think it is the ltd 400 i believe not sure.

my guitarist has an ltd neck thru and its awsome i think its mh350 or something like that

i bought a ltd viper 400 and im still waiting its about 3 months wait so far and they say its gonna be at least another month. i kept myself safe and got a three year warranty for @ 68$ that covers almost anything

and xeromus you told me about them letting the cr@ppy 1s slip through so i got paranoid and followed up on alot of forums and even on the esp forum no one ever heard of that , what i was told was that the demand and waiting for parts from manufacturers, and after me waiting on whats going on 4 months i doubt they letting bad 1s go through. The UPS destroying your guitars is quite possible because i bought an ampeg 410 bass cabinet and i have the picture somewhere and it was beat up so bad the box was torn and the foam was falling out the horn cuts in and out to this day.
