Luthier Made Les Paul

Ran across this in a music store in local college town after night of Absinthe & Tequila. Supposedly a one off custom build from a Vermont based luthier. 10 plus pounds of what I believe to be a two piece Cherry Body with a Flame Maple Top, Pao Ferro Fretboard, Chunky '59 Neck, Binding everywhere, PRS Santana Pickups (amazingly articulate and full spectrum sound...you can literally hear the notes "bloom"), Schaller Germany Tuning Pegs.

Luthier Custom Build, 10 lbs +, Natural Finish, Flame Maple Set Neck w/Schaller Germany Tuning Pegs, 22 Med Jumbo Fret Pao Ferro Fretboard and Pearl Wave Inlays, 2 Piece Cherry Body w/Flame Maple Top, Paul Reed Smith Santana Humbuckers in Chrome Rings, Tune-O-Matic Bridge/Stop Tailpiece, Vol x2/Tone x 2, Standard Side Mount Input Jack

Those pix seem to have been shot in a home, not a guitar store...so by "ran across," do you mean that you ended up bringing it home?

Re: Luthier Made Les Paul

That neck looks killer!
I mean the woods, gorgeous maple, but I prefer thin necks instead of chunky.

Re: Luthier Made Les Paul

WTH is going on with that intonation???
Or the action/bridge height??

And said 'Luthier' should have placed the T/P way further back. Breakover angle is pretty extreme......although the bridge height has something to do with that too.

Re: Luthier Made Les Paul

Congratulations.

The bridge doesn't look that high to me. It's probably an optical illusion because the tailpiece is set all the way down.

Thanks. Bridge is fine. Intonates and thanks to the Schallers it actually stays in tune while and after it's been played.

WHAT DID YOU PAY? haha

Should we start placing bets?

My guess is $1,000 tops. Probably "worth" more in terms of build quality, but I can't see anyone spending any more than that for a guitar by an unknown or little-known builder. Hopefully he got it for less!

Yes lets.

I think $1200

No optical illusion......have a look at the low E side of the bridge and see how screwed out of its bushing it is.
Also look at the bridge pickup and how far it is screwed up above a fairly tall ring.
