Lynch's original Tiger ESP

Anyone have any detailed info and pics on Lynch's original Tiger/Bengal ESP? I saw him play last year w/ Lynch Mob at the Al Rosa here in Columbus, and that thing looked like it had been through hell! Lots of large finish cracks.

It had that real pointy headstock, looked like you could stab your fretting hand if you slid it down the neck too fast. I thought the original Bengal ESP had the more normal, strat-esque ESP headstock? Did he switch the neck at some point, or is my memory just hazy?

I'm pretty certain the original M1 had a strat headstock, but I'm positive it was not a pointy.

Re: Lynch's original Tiger ESP

The original Tiger isn't an ESP, I believe its a Charvel body. George painted the body himself and there's a video on YT of him talking about how the paint shrunk because he had to go out on tour in some cold climate and the paint didn't fully cure yet.
Its had multiple necks, the latest is of Lynch's own headstock design but made by ESP. The design is also used on his hand made Bones guitars.

Here are some real up close photos of the Tiger....

The body is a maple Mighty Mite body, and while George did not paint it himself, the finish did crack when the guitar was in the cold cargo hold of a flight to Europe.

There is a lengthy history of the guitar on the Charvel site. I will get some more details when I get home.

It's actually a Sandoval. The original headstock was like the one that he's using now- Not a Strat style. He calls it the "Endorse-O-Matic", because it's had so many necks, and logos, over the years.

Look closely at the headstock. :cool2:

Re: Lynch's original Tiger ESP

I read somewhere that ESP changed the necks out on all his original guitars.
Kind of a slimey thing to do...however, it seems it has happened a few times by different companies.

On some of them, he just put an ESP decal, on the existing headstock. His J. Frog, "Mom", is one that most everyone knows.

Here's a cool pic I took of him while he was playing some demo stuff with it at the Duncan booth at NAMM a couple years ago.

Did you make it home yet?

Ayrton,
thank you for posting that pic man! I never actually saw it up close before, so that was kinda neat to see. Its kinda weird that the cold weather cracked and checked the finish like it did. Makes it look like an amateur painted it, doesn't it?

I always loved that guitar, and it's so awesome that he still breaks it out once in a while unlike some guys who have retired their old guitars.
