Alot lower gain than I would have expected... what amp model were you using?

Otherwise, sounds really good! Props on the midi drums. LOL

Thanks man. I was using the Spinal Puppet model. I don't like using lots of gain b/c I like to keep things articulate and tight. I also keep the presence really low so that makes it seem like there's less gain. The HD147 is a great amp, I just wish it had a little more oomph and balls to it. It can give you plently of gain though. Hence why I'm been gassing for a Splawn =)

A nice. Try using the modelled tubescreamer infront of that amp, with the level at 12 o clock, tone at 11 o clock, and drive at 9 o clock. Should tighten things up ;).

thanks guys for the positive feedback.

perhaps i could've mixed it better...lowered the drums and bass and upped the guitars.

also my setup was pretty simple. direct xlr outs into the mic input of my laptop. i feel like this isn't the best way to get optimal tone for recording. any suggestions?

pod xt...or some kind of direct modeling device..
(tone lab, behringer v-amp, boss gt-8, ect)

I personally use the pod xt...check out my music below in my sig
(warning...I dont have great tone or chops)

Nice. Very crunchy, tight and the tone totally works for your style. I like "like light to the flies" a little more.. very upbeat.

wow, i was just browsing the forum randomly and noticed that this thread was revived after almost 7 months!

anyways, thanks for the feedback guys! i have since sold the hd147 and am playing through a splawn quickrod, but am still an a huge fan of the duncan custom pickup =) i recently put a custom/'59 combo in my gibson R7 black beauty and couldn't be happier.

Those are pretty good; I'm especially happy to hear how well you did L2R..you have some wrong notes, but it's a challenging song so well done
