M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

I have a friend that has an almost new M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD but its in like a camo black/grey (he ordered it with that color scheme) it looks pretty sweet. He is in need of cash and wants to sell it. He paid 1,900.00 w/case out the door. He slammed in two Aftermath (bare Knuckle pups in it) after getting it. It has no wear on it at all and it is really one of the smoothest guitars for shred i have ever played.

Anyone know anything about these things i know they are from Canada but thats about all i know. He says they are top quality guitars and he will sell it to me for 1,000.00 but i told him i would have to think about it.

Anyone have any info about these guitars? thanks in advance

That might help, seeing as how they're not a household name like Gibson, Jackson, Fender, etc.

Did he buy it directly from them or through a dealer? Dealer markup would put a $800 guitar up to $2K, depending on the dealer.

For an unknown/boutique/small-time/not-one-of-the-big-boys builder, material costs are high, as are all other business-related costs, so selling prices are high.

Then again, Godin does nice work, and their low prices are due to the amount of work done by computers/machines, and they're made in Canada.

Serial #001 is on Ebay right now with an asking price of $2K.

How much of a "friend" is the guy?
How much do you like the guitar?
Can you swing the money easily or will it put you in a bind as well?
Would you be comfortable with the idea of having to sell the guitar to recover your expense, whether back to said friend, or on Ebay, thus possibly losing it forever?

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

He ordered it from the manufacturer and it has no dings or scratches. It plays amazing. I do like it a lot but it is just i never heard of them before thats why im a little put off. He lent it to me today and i have played the crap out of it and it still is in tune and i mean i played it til my fingers hurt.

I talked to him a bit ago and he said 1,000.00 is as low as he can go and i do need a good shred guitar (doesnt everyone) money isnt a problem at all. I think i am going to pull the trigger on this though tomorrow.

I will do a review of it and post it in a week or so.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Not without taking a long hard look at every easy-to-sell $1000 guitar i like within a 50 mile radius of my home that doesn't have a camo finish, i wouldn't.

No. I would get a wine red Les Paul Studio or a nice Tele, or a Charvel if you need a shred stick. Not a WhatsHisName 9000 NobodyKnowsWhatItIs.

Wheres the spam? have the spammers gone retarded and started forgetting to put the spam links in the sigs or what.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Just because it isn't a Fender/Gibson/whatever doesn't mean it isn't worth it. I wouldn't be afraid to do it if it's as badass as their reviews are. Sounds like he's taking a bath on the deal too. Hell, he's got $300+ in just the pickups. Titanium blocked FR stock? LOL.

The only obstacle I see is if it's possible that it's not something you'll be hanging on to on a permanent basis, because resale is obviously going to be a problem.

Eh, I dunno EP, I know I'm kinda contradicting myself, but I don't think LP Studios are worth a grand, and it had better be one badass tele for that much too.

+1 on all of that. LP Studios are never worth a grand, even in UK money!

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Well you know what they say about opinions... i've played so many kickass Studios...and yeah, you can pay less than a G for a good one.

Those were very general examples using guitars that hold resale value. Unless custom camo noname shredstick is better than every other guitar you could get for that price, it's a deal you will eventually regret.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Well boys i bought it today after work. He gave me the guitar (mint) Hard case and a tone of strings for 900.00 I told him that i didnt really need it so he said 900.00 thats the lowest i can go.

I took it and i played it for about 3 hours today straight and i love it. It plays nicer than my ESP and my washburn. But although it was 900.00 i think i got a deal.

I will review it next week with some pics. As soon as the wife can show me how to work the camera:) or she can take the pics so i dont screw it up..

Cool deal, I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

EP is letting his distaste for shred sticks show.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Congrats. Something like this I take it? Looks pretty sweet to me for that cash.

Dude, if it had Aftermaths, you payed like 1/3 of the new price. That's not a good deal, that's an awesome deal.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Varg, thats the one except like i said he had it custom painted.its got the black like the one in your pic but it has a silvery grey where the yellow or whatever color that is in your pic. it looks pretty sweet.

The Aftermaths he had put in right after he got it not sure what he payed for them?

An aftermath set is like $300 on its own.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

I dont mind shredders... its the custom handmade guitars that lose half of their value.

I just hope you really love the guitar and you dont wind up selling it for $500 yknow?

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Not like he's buying it sight unseen. He's already played it and says he digs it. IF he decides to sell it I doubt that he will take a 500 dollar hit but if he does oh well by far not the first or the worst. I'm glad your so concerned about his return on investment.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

I'd be less concerned about "return on investment" (*see below) than whether or not I was getting a guitar that was actually worth the price. Anyone can build a guitar that looks great in pics. Anyone can build a guitar that has a seemingly under-valued initial quality (Agile). My concern would be if the guitar was going to leave me with the impression that I paid entirely too much for entirely too little further down the road.

* re: return on investment
I hate this term being applied to musical instruments. If you want an investment, talk to Chuck Schwab. If it's got strings and resembles a musical instrument, it's not a Bearer Bond, Municipal Bond, Stock share, T-Bill, or Pork Belly. It's not an original Michelangelo or DaVinci painting (which aren't even original any more, since they've been retouched by so many other artists over the years). It's a musical instrument. You play them, wear them out, and take the loss when you sell it. Period.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

Points taken Newc, but I beg to differ.

I've bought several guitars for significantly less than "average"... you find a faded SG a guy needs to drop for $250, or my beat-up old Les Paul I bought two years before it became "vintage."

You play 'em for a while. You wear 'em out. Then somebody offers you "average" price and you just made $300 on that SG you scored.

I've already had offers of more than $1000 than I paid for my Les Paul....and I've only had it a few years. Can't wait to see where it goes from here!

I don't play professionally and I'm not a great songwriter... this is as close to being paid to play guitar as I can get.

Re: M-SR6 FR STALINGRAD YES OR NO ANYONE?

FYI, they're a quebec company, and the whole montreal metal scene is practically going ga-ga for these guitars. They're top notch, yes indeed.
