For any M13 owners here, if you aren't already aware, the new firmware was made available earlier today. There's a huge thread over on TGP about the new stuff in this version including a bunch of wahs, pitch glide (whammy), intelligent harmonizer, new flangers, redone choruses, the capability for 48 "scenes" ... I'm pretty pumped, just finished the update and am going to fire it up!!!!

I've been looking at the M13 and trying to find ways of justifying the purchase to myself.

How is the firmware update done?

Cool! Unfortunately I don't have a MIDI interface, but that can be fixed. It's worth it just to get a whammy and a harmonizer.

Line 6 seems to recommend an M Audio Uno or something, but I bought a midi/USB interface off EBay for $10 including shipping and I've updated from 1.04 to 1.07 and now to 2.0 without a hitch. There are concise instructions for both Mac and PC users.

As far as justifying the purchase, obviously everybody has their own criteria, etc. I was pretty skeptical to be honest, really I've been down on Line 6 for years, but bit into the hype and figured I could take it back within the 30 day period if they suckered me in again. It is most definitely a keeper. I've actually sold enough redundant pedals to pay for it and more.

Scrolling through (and testing) some of the new stuff, I don't think I mentioned they've added some different EQ's now as well, an excellent bonus I wasn't expecting.

I did a bit of beta testing for this, and it is indeed a major update. Not everything I wanted was included, but I guess it is that way for everyone. I gotta say, the wahs are wonderful, and I am having a blast with the new 'particle verb', which is this 100% wet splash of ambient noise that sounds like a Mellotron under water.
