Mag Mic SA-6 pickup bio-hazard!

Re: Mag Mic SA-6 pickup bio-hazard!

My comments were about Prown's misapplied ecological evangelism as well, and in agreement with you, sorry you can't seem to understand that.

I understand what you are saying now...in your last post you quoted me and ended your post with "you aren't firing on all cylinders" so, without this last explanation your comments seemed directed toward me rather than Prown. I think "misapplied ecological evangelism" is a great description.
Thanks.

BTW, my comment about product destruction was actually in regards to old practices of many book chains. Used to be common to destroy large quantities of books that weren't moving, rather than selling them at reduced cost, or finding another way to sell them (online, ship to another store, etc).

I was agreeing that product longevity makes sense even for environmentalists, as it produces less waste.

Re: Mag Mic SA-6 pickup bio-hazard!

Bobbins? I said nothing about bobbins. The reviewer's request was to stop putting pickups in hard plastic cases, and under that statement is a photo of the new SD pickup, housed in ... a hard plastic case, my Fishman pickup is in ...a hard plastic case, in fact, most sound hole pickups are in hard plastic cases (save for some of wood). But we are off the point, my original intent was to point out that a guitar pickup review in a guitar magazine is not the place to promote one's personal view that the planet needs protection from pickup manufacturers. By the way, the rest of the review is good, it's thoughtful and detailed, makes me want that pickup.

On the contrary, I think its a really great place for it. The word has to be spread far and wide, and every little bit helps. There's no point in preaching to the converted, and judging by the opinions of the responders its a great place to spread the word about helping the planet (I know a few responses were tongue in cheek too).

OK - yes I'm a tree-hugging hippie

So AlexR, you don't think the best thing about a tree is what you can make out of it?

Re: Mag Mic SA-6 pickup bio-hazard!

I saw a report on the Weather Channel a couple of years ago when they were jumping on the Green Bandwagon where some "respected researchers" declared cat poop contains a parasite that may end up in local waterways when it gets washed away by the rain, and said parasite is dangerous to the local waterways.

Now, whether you observe Evolution or Creationism, they both agree on one major point - animals were here, farting in fields and pooping in the rain long before mankind even thought about doing water samples.

Ergo, it's entirely too late to save the planet for future generations. The human race and planet Earth will not last for millions more years. Accept it and move on.

We had a good run, let's leave on a high note.

And no, a guitar magazine is not the place to preach anyone's message. It's a place for guitar-related material, not religious, political, legal, medical, or financial messages.
Kinda like this forum.
