Mag swapping a JB

So I just got a Jackson Pro series Dinky. Came with a JB/59 set. I'm already planning on getting rid of the 59 for a Jazz.

What I'm curious about is what the JB sounds like with an Alnico 8. My usual complaint with the JB is the upper mid spike that's a bit too prevalent. I'm looking for something to even that out a bit, and if possible tighten up the low end.

I know what a big ceramic does - that's a Duncan Distortion. I have a big ceramic lying around so I may try that.

What I'm curious about is the JB 8. How is it different from the stock A5 JB?

Try a 250K volume pot. I was never a fan of the JB in the bridge till recently, when I tried it with a 250K volume. Much better IMO.

Aside from that, if you've got an EMG HZ3 you can put its ceramic magnet in the JB and get a JB+/Distortion Lite, which is also nice.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can make a pair of JB/59 hybrids.

I preface this by stating that my JB in my Shecter Blackjack has a double thick ceramic in it. Almost a Distortion now. But if you want to get a more vintage rock/metal sound out of it go with a rough cast UOA5. You won't regret it.
