Does anyone know what setup Eddie Hazel was using on this tune? I listened to it a few times through today and was really digging the tone. Fuzzy n Funky!

Re: Maggotbrain!

im fairly sure he used a Les Paul (I know he did live in a video ive seen)

thats about as much as I know

awesome AWESOME tune!

Re: Maggotbrain!

I believe I recently read that he used Fender amps on the track and then later went to Music Man. Guy had a huge impact on me, blended Jimi, Funk and hard rock better than any player IMO. Completely underrated.... RIP.

Re: Maggotbrain!

i posted something not too long ago about how mind-melding this solo is! sorry, can't help you with the equipment setup but just wanted to chime in on how much i love this song, his playing, and his incredible tone! whatever he was using it sounds like it was cranked to 11.

This is a video recorded in Germany in '86. He is clearly playing thru a couple of Marshalls, but I can't make out what they were. Could be 800's considering the year. The video is not very clear and my knowledge of Shredder guitars is not great, but it looks like an Ibaneze guitar.

Re: Maggotbrain!

there was a tribute to the good man Eddie, on Ween's Chocolate n Cheese record, called "a tear for Eddie", and it's tonally very similar sounding to Maggot. Phaser, Wah, fuzz and say a tele, distance miced, with the bass dialed out ? ?
