Magnet swap to SH5 Custom

Hi guys, I want to swap the magnet in my SH-11 for a ceramic so I get a Custom. How big is the difference if I use a 5cm magnet vs the regular 3cm? Does it gets too hot?

Can´t buy locally and shipping cost to my country from the sellers that I found on ebay is absurd. Contacted a local pickup builder to see if he can sell me one. Said for ceramic he only had 5cm ones, where the normal is about 3cm (maybe typo meant mm?).

It would sound louder and bassier. You will also have to put the stock spacers on their side to make it fit.

a big ceramic in a custom can sound great, gotta flip the spacers as christopher mentioned

It is going into an ibanez modern lp, so mahogany body (on the thinner side) and neck, set in with ebony fretboard. You reckon it would sound good? Or should I try to find a regular sized magnet?

I actually replaced the magnet on my Custom from the stock ceramic to an oversized ceramic I grabbed off a broken Duncan Distortion, and there was a noticeable difference. It was hotter, but it also made it fatter and it seemed to lower the treble peak the Custom has to a frequency that's a bit lower.

I didn't like it, personally. Yes, it was hotter, which is nice, but it also kinda lost what made the Custom cool to my ears in the first place, which was the awesome aggressive and sizzly treble response and the added openness thanks to the scoopy nature. I quickly went back to the stock magnet.

Oh, and yeah. Probably typo. 5 cm thick magnet would be HUMONGOUS.

I did swaps with every magnet I could get. A2,3,4,5, small ceramic, big ceramic and A8. Recently I got A9, but did not have the time to put it in.
The big ceramic was kind of bloated when i compared it with a stock distortion. I preferred the A8 which makes a less stridend version of the ceramic Custom.
Coming to my preferences I use a stock Distortion neck in the bridge of a Les Paul. These seem to have small ceramic magnets with lesser windings than the Distortion bridge. Highly recommended.
