Major Problem!

Re: Major Problem!

Usually you can bead it back to the board. Can you snap a shot. I am not sure what kind of soldering pads they use on those boards (as I have never used one).

Re: Major Problem!

Need a picture. But remember, those solder pads always GO somewhere. So you can just solder to whatever is on the other end of that trace. Now, if all it does is go straight into a surfact mount component, then you don't have as much of an option, but if there's some amount of trace going to the first component, another alternative is to carefully scrape away the solder mask and solder directly to the trace.

Re: Major Problem!

The pad came off!? What are you using, a blowtorch?

Seriously, that's pretty weak construction if the pad came off, and I'm the worst solderist out there

Re: Major Problem!

This is typical on PWBs. If you don't solder properly the pad can lift off the board. You have a couple of options. 1st is to try & repair the lifted contact. You'll need an adhesive to reattach the copper to the pwb. Sorry but I have no idea what to use here. If you have a electronics shop nearby see what they suggest. 2nd is to follow the trace back to it's source & solder a new wire to this point. There will be either a leg from a chip or cap or resistor or another wire that you can solder to much more easily than the pwb trace. It will leave a stub on this connection but at these frequencies it shouldn't cause you any grief.

Good Luck
