Major Scales!?!???

Hey guys..looking at this Ted Vieira site guitar lesson
it has the different forms of major scales...it might just be me but don't they resemble modes, eg practically identical and also the fact modes are the different forms or degress of the major scale.. can anyone elaborate..?

it is gonna come down to terminology .. those diagrams just show different fingerings for 'major' diatonic scales .. you get the fingerings for the modes by starting on a different degree of the scales shown ... i put 'major' in quotes because you could start on the E notes of those fingerings and have E minor scales ...
