making a new bass rig pedal board

super rad stuff

Skaforlifeologist
so, i just bought one of these today:
pedal train mini with bag. we had one limited edition platinum board at my store, and it's mine now.

i also ordered one of these from tc electronics:
Polytune Mini.

now, i'm just getting my head around which pedals i want, what to try, yadda yadda etc. i kind of have an idea of what i want, but only to an extent. i know i'm going to want a compressor, an overdrive, possibly an EQ, and sometime down the line possibly an envelope filter. mostly, i'm looking for suggestions for good but affordable(working-mans type stuff, ya kno?) compressor and overdrive; those are my two main focuses at the moment.

i'll be playing in a funk/alternative/rock band pretty soon here, and my current rig is a squier P with a 17k pickup(super fat but not boomy or bitey), an acoustic b200h head, and a hartke aluminum-coned 410 cabinet. one of my coworkers already suggested the tech21 sansamp as an overdrive/eq, but i'm not sure if i wanna drop that kind of cash yet. it's definitely a possibility though with enough positive feedback. any other suggestions are welcome:)

you should definitely get a fuzz, and for bass id go with a big muff style, look up which sounds best with bass

My favorite Big Muff for bass is the green made in Russia version. They're getting to be pretty spendy these days tho...

Electro Harmonix BassBalls are fun as hell to play with.

duuude.... that sounds fantastic.

Re: making a new bass rig pedal board

btw, what do you guys think of the bbe sonic stomp? i've tried it on guitar, and i like how it's pretty much a two band EQ in a sense that you get a low and high knob, though i've never heard it(to my knowledge at least) on bass.

edit:
until now. seems pretty sweet.

fuzz is very cool indeed, but this will be a 5 piece funk band with two guitars and keys. fuzz would take up a lot of sonic realty, which i'm not really looking to do. hence, overdrive;)

^that mxr bass fuzz is cool. i like how you can mix your dry and fuzzed tones together. not sure how it would fit with what i'm trying to do though:scratchch

Re: making a new bass rig pedal board

i've had a chance to mess around with a tech 21 sans amp through my rig tonight, and i have to say i think i'm gonna get one:)

i didn't turn it off but once right at the beginning of rehearsal to hear the difference between it on and off, and left it on the entire night.
