making a regular guitar into a baritone?

i'm not really sure why i'm asking about this, because i'm probably just going to go for it, but...

i have an ibanez roadstar II that i was going to make into a 12 string. after some consideration i decided to put the 12 string neck on a different guitar, and put the roadstar neck back onto the roadstar body. i've already filled in the trem on the roadstar, so i'm thinking about drilling the bridge a few inches back from where it needs to be, thus making it a baritone.

is this feasible? i really don't see why it wouldn't be, but if anyone knows of any major problems i'm going to run into i'd like to hear them.

If you want a baritone guitar, you need a baritone neck. If you just move the bridge back, all you are going to get is a guitar with no intonation that probably sounds very, very wrong. However, if you're into experimental, atonal music, it might work for you. The 12th fret has to be in the center of the guitar's scale length for it to function as the type of instrument we use in Western music. If you go for it, I'd be awfully curious about how it turns out. It won't be a baritone guitar, but it'll definitely be something.

aw dammit! i forgot the 12th fret needs to be at the center of the scale.

Dunno if they'll fit your Ibby but Warmoth makes bari conversion necks.

yeah, i know they make the conversion necks, but this was really just an idea to try something different since i have all the parts ready.
