Maple bodied ESP...

whats a good bucker in an all-maple (except the rosewood fretboard) guitar that wont make it sound so harsh and overly bright?

hmmm George Lynch uses those exact guitars... so a screamin demon should sound good. Other than that, you might want to use an Alnico II pup, like a trem spaced Custom Custom

i AM gonna get the george lynch model! i just found the tone too harsh and bright.

I put a distortion bridge in my maple bodied Parker Nitefly and it wasn't that bad at all. I was afraid it'd be too bright but it wasn't.
