Maple or maple/ebony or rosewood?

Re: Maple or maple/ebony or rosewood?

I think you should go ALL Rosewood.

Like on a Music Man Albert Lee. You can acquire one from Warmoth.

Re: Maple or maple/ebony or rosewood?

Ive attempted to get an online quote from usacg with little success. I like rolled edges as well so I may check into some musikraft. Ive seen some of their necks on ebay as I was trollin for necks. Does anyone here have any experience with WD necks?

I've never tried them before so I don't know how their ordering process is. I DO know that Brian Roossien over at Warmoth exchanged numerous e-mails with me concerning my orders making sure I was getting what I wanted–was extremely helpful in getting me my Roasted Quartersawn Maple Neck which is not an option on their site. I had one neck that came in with a crack and Warmoth took care of the neck and sent me a replacement–was 100% satisfied with their service and will continue to use them in the future.

I do not have any experience with WD Necks but here is one that I have my eyes on for a project in the works.

There are many guitars that come with an oiled neck. The nicest I've ever played was prolly a music man petrucci model. I've been watching the site but so far only plain maple 21 fret necks. I'm after a 22 fret, roasted, flame or Birdseye maple with abalone inlays.

I love Music Man's guitar necks! Played an all Rosewood one that was amazing!

I would say definitely go for the 22 if you can. The Roasted is awesome because of the color, feel, and zero need for any finish (still a good idea to keep it oiled lol) but I think Birdseye Maple would look amazing on that guitar...maybe a Roasted Birdseye!

Hmm, I think the colors could potentially clash BUT all Rosewood necks feel and sound so freakin' good!

Re: Maple or maple/ebony or rosewood?

I've been very curious about Ed and I've been watching the tele neck version of the strat you posted a link to. I had two warmoth bodies and had nothing but great customer service from them as well. I've never ordered a neck from them but will prolly do so for this build. I am turned from all parts necks simply because of the truss rod adjust being at the heel. I don't want to have to take the neck off or half off to adjust relief. I prefer it at the headstock. Ive also had experience with the warmoth pro construction and still prefer the adjust at the head.

For all of my Warmoth Builds I've gone with the Vintage Modern for that exact reason (except for my 7/8 Warhead Strat that the only neck that would work was the 7/8 Warhead Modern Double Expanding Truss Rod.) Definitely hate having to take the neck partially off to make an adjustment.

There are only two neck manufacturers I would trust to make an outstanding neck. Warmoth and this guy who used to work for Warmoth: http://www.usacustomguitars.com/ He doesn't have the rights to make the genuine Fender headstocks but his still look good. I think he also has a roasted maple if you are looking for that.
