March of the Toys - scratch intro

Her Little Mojo Minion
The other day I had an idea for a song about marching wind-up toys and next thing I knew, I had like every riff for the song in about an hour. That doesn't usually happen to me.

It'll probably take me forever to record & mix it how I'm hearing it in my head - it's got a ton of keyboard/big band type stuff and vocals. I tried to do a scratch take of the beginning (it sort of captures the mood):

Thanks for listening. I'll have to check out the big elf thing.

Yeah, it's sort of a holiday nutcracker/island of the misfit toys type vibe. I'm picturing the toys waking up in a kid's room and marching down the stairs and out the door to battle another group of toys or just to parade down the street and strut their stuff. I had primus' first album and Danny elfman in mind for the melodies.

cool, I dig the vibe, now I wanna hear the rest!

here is a bigelf type of song a little similar:

That was neat - wonder if that was an accordion. I used one, so that'd be weird!

Thanks gents! Makes me want to keep going on this daunting project.

Re: March of the Toys - scratch intro

Thanks guys. An hour for the bare bones guitar riffs, about 5 main ones. I ended up adding ~2 more and the full arrangement of them took place over another couple of days. I threw theory stuff out the window, that helped.
