Marshall 1933 for part time bass

Hi, I am looking to play a little bass at home volumes. I have a spare marshall 1933 cab (1x12, closed back, front ported) that I could put a bass speaker in. Would that work OK for some bass practice? Would an EVM12l survive bass in that?

I hate to admit but I am partially going by looks here. I have a JCM800 4010 (50w 1x12 combo, vintage 30 speaker) and two matching 1933 cabs (one empty, one with a creamback), and a marshall 2061x lead and bass head. I was thinking of using the 2061x as a practice bass head through one of the 1933s part time, while it is mostly used as a guitar head through the 1933 with creamback. The 4010 sometimes uses the creamback cab in addition to its vintage 30 speaker, and could also use the EVM12l cab if I go that way.

Re: Marshall 1933 for part time bass

you can TOTALLY use big celestion speakers for bass, whether through bass OR guitar head/amp... as long as your speaker wattage is higher & the ohms line up.

despite all the naysayers, there've even been guys who've played 100watt bass heads into a cab of GREENBACKS (low wattage speakers AND always had a history of blowing up @ matched wattage) for years successfully, and no not the bass cab model ones either... if you use something BIG like V30, 12-65 (suh-weeeet for bass!!!! hate to admit it, but seem better for bass than for guitar hehe), etc, you're good.

...or the gt75, which I just don't like and therefore don't recommend. but yeah I've run a 150watt carvin bass amp into a stock Marshall 1960a, did alright, nothing broke.

PS just use the JCM combo. ain't gonna kill the V30, that bugger's durable... and, also, there's no particular reason for it to get overloaded, again despite what others say. if worried, run with extension cab, which you can load up with another V30, a 12-65, or some other big speaker to match well to the V30 in the JCM. Totally feel free to select a speaker that works well for GUITAR through that combo since it's your main useage and you're just tinkering with bass at home, it'll be good for bass too. and NOOOOOT just at home volumes. a JCM 800 is actually a popular bass amp in some circles, and dunno about the combo/head diff, but the head sure can blast clubs and more just fine.
