Marshall 1960 cab/speaker identification questions

So... the black (new style) 1960 that says "1960 Vintage" in the bottom corner is the one with the G12T/75s, right?

Here's what I mean (random picture):

Thanks...

Re: Marshall 1960 cab/speaker identification questions

No- the 1960 Vintage has Celstion Vintage 30's in it. Regular 1990's have the G12T/75's

Re: Marshall 1960 cab/speaker identification questions

The V30 cabs usually say "1960 LEAD"

Edit: To add some confusion:

There's the...
1960 LEAD "AV"... V30s
1960 Classic "AC"... Greenbacks
JCM 900 LEAD "A"... G12T/75

But I think someone mentioned the 900s were "cheaper" 1960As with a different backplate than the "1960 Vintage"

I hope GJ will chime in here... he usually knows all the details on Britware.

No I'm actually quite positive on what I've written here since every cab other than the "1960 Vintage" my local dealer has online... and they say excactly that ;)

Or is the 1960 Vintage the original JCM800 V30 cab? No I think there's another cab that says 800... aaaaah

I can't flash in there since I don't have that cab next to me... it's rather a question of... which speakers will produce the sound of the cab I've seen.

1960 is the type of cab = 4x12

vintage = v30, classic = g12m, lead = g12t75

if it says jcm 800 or 900 it just means its older, from when they were making those amps.

Ok so you guys could be right and the dealer pics might just be f-ed up.

I'm talking about the golden things in the left lower corner...

Is it like that?

1960A: "1960 Lead" / "JCM 900 Lead" (i think it's written in capital letters usually, but whatev), G12T/75
1960AV: "1960 Vintage", V30
1960AC: "1960 Classic", Greenback

Re: Marshall 1960 cab/speaker identification questions

If it says Vintage on the placard it was originally loaded with Marshall "Vintage" speakers, that are Marshall's proprietary version of the Celestion Vintage 30.

Jeremy is correct. As an example, the letter code 1960AV would be: Angled cab-Vintage 30 speakers. The letter code 1960BV would be Base ( bottom or straight front) cab-Vintage 30 speakers. C indicates Greenback speakers also called "Classic" speakers in Marshall speak.

The modern cabs with G12T75 speakers get mixxed up and confused with the cabs loaded with V30 quite a bit by guitarists and dealers alike.

Re: Marshall 1960 cab/speaker identification questions

Ok... because I know the short codes (like 1960AV) and what they stand for, but I didn't see the direct connection to the speaker names with the plates.

Thanks people.
