Marshall 1966a 2x12 speaker cab? Baby quad...

Re: Marshall 1966a 2x12 speaker cab? Baby quad...

Don't think there would be much to tell about these, just that it would be a Marshall 212 that looks better than perhaps a 1936 type cab...depending on the look you want to go for that is.

I played thru a pair of them years ago when my band openned for another and I used the guitarists cabs with my amp. They sounded good but not as "crisp" as my 1960a I usually use. I think I could have bumped the highs or presence to compensate. I'd like to find 4 of them to make two mini stacks, they're alot easier to carry on you own too! They also made a 4x10 cabinet (1965a/b) the same size, mix and match!

I've got a 66A loaded with a V30/H30 combo....Great lighter weight cab with a big sound.

They made the matching bottom, 66B, but I've never seen one. I had a 65A & 65B (same cab but 4x10s)....recently sold off the 65A & now have the 66A/65B (2x12 top/4x10 bottom) combination going & it's big big sounding.

That's my 66A in my avatar....I'm gonna get the 65B covered in the same tolex :D

I have a 2556B, which is the Silver Jubilee version of the 1966B. I loaded mine with the V30/G12H30 combo and it sounds pretty cool, though not as big as a 4x12.

Here 'tis with the 2553 small box amp head...

Very cool Simon :bigok:

Yeah, to the original question....they have a great sound, but not as full & airy as a 4x12.

Paired up with the 4x10 though, it's got a super tone...goes very well with the Edana :D
