Just been watching the latest Marshall product DVD. Kerry King now has his own signiature amp, and there is also a MG15MSZW Zakk Wylde MG series Microstack. Marshall seem to be keeping themselves busy!!

how many different guises of the 2203 must they bring back before they reissue one i can bloody afford?!
seriously, the amp is one of the greats... lets only release it in the handwired range (losing 80% of your market) or after a meathead celeb has gotten his mitts on it (zakk wylde, kerry king)?

Pretty sad when the Marshall amp demo guy can make the amp sound 10 times better than the endorsee
I was about to puke, until Chris came on and started demo'ing it :laugh2:
I can't say I've ever heard much slayer ( I think one song) but that dude's tone is horrid. I'd want a built-in noise gate too if I had all that slop ringing out between chords/notes.
The High gain mode doesnt sound bad at all. Kinda DSL-ish but more complex, and the standard mode sounds just like an 800 should...those KT88s sound great.
One thing that surprised me is how good it sounded through the Mode4 cab. Should sound REALLY good through some GB/12H/75s.

I think the Mode4 cab was one of the key ingredients in the vid. I agree it could be improved with another cab choice. For me, it could be warmed up a bit, a bit less tin.
The additions in the amp seem really usable.

I think his tone is great, at least he doesn't scoop his mids to get that annoying bumble bee tone everyone else has.

well..uhm...OK......? :laugh2: I think a rectifier does that type of thing MUCH better than a Marshall...though I don't care for "that type of thing" personally.

My guess is that it is in the EQing. BB King doesn't have a smooth light OD sound through a rectifier. Tone and timbre are different things.

That's a pretty vicious sounding Marshall. I can't wait to see one of those someplace.
Now I know why I bought my Bogner Ecstasy. It'll go toe to toe with that Kerry King amp for heaviness, and also give you every shade of clean and plexi in addition......plus boosts, Class A mode, switchable FX loop etc. No matter what Marshall pulls out of their hat, Bogner already beat them at it.

Personally i think the bogner rips its head off. Just the sheer thickness, richness and quality of the tone from a bogner is light years ahead.
Thats why i yawn at everything that Marshall puts out now....................................except for the ole Plexi.
