yeah, so at practice last night, i ran just my 2x12 into my mesa combo. it has the gt1275's...kinda wasn't a big fan. i liked the bottom end, but i really wanted that little extra bite or high end that i get when i run the marshall with the C90 from the combo...

i've been thinking a lot lately about grabbing an Avatar 4x12 with V30's and G12H30's, or V30's and gt1275's...i dunno. just kind of bummed i guess. anybody else not so impressed?

Re: marshall 2x12

I have a Marshall 1960A with Avatar's Hellatone 60's, the v30 model. The thing woops my VHT cab pretty bad. Really thick and tons of bite.

Re: marshall 2x12

im looking at those right now on the avatar website, haha. i think that sounds like the perfect combo for me...grind and thump. sounds like good porn!

Re: marshall 2x12

example...we were playing som drop D stuff last night, and it sounded freakin like nothing but BASS!! i looked at my (untouched) setting, T/M/B was 1:00/11:00/1:00...grrrr

are mesas THAT bassy? is that why they come with V30 cabs to kinda, balance it all out? im starting to think

mesa + g12t75's = bad idea
mesa + C90 + g12t75's = better idea - more clarity and bite. more open sounding too (no doubt because the combo is open back...)

Re: marshall 2x12

I really dig my JCM C212 cab with a V30/EVM 12L in it. Lots of thump, bite, and clarity with tons of volume on tap.

maybe you just need to re-eq your amp when only using the marshall cab. cut the bass and boost the mids a little. may eliminate the need for new speakers.

Re: marshall 2x12

Me too. Nonetheless, 75's are really empty in the midrange. They come pre-scooped. If you set your amp EQ scooped -all it leaves is bass and treble, and a type of treble that doesn't necessarily cut through a heavy type band mix.
