Marshall 800 Fuses

Re: Marshall 800 Fuses

If it`s an old /"original" JCM800, you´ll probably need the 5x30 size that was in there originally.

I tried a 5x20 in mine once many years ago because it was 2AM and there wasn`t much choice... and I had constant issues with not powering up and dropping out due to poor contact, replaced it the next day wioth the proper size and that fuse is still in there today.

I think the newer ones have different fuse holders that also accommodate 5x20, but don`t take my word for it. :)

Re: Marshall 800 Fuses

Yeah, it's a 1987 JCM800. I'll have to find some 5x30s.

Thanks!

By the way, where did you get the 5x30?

Local electronics store, was a pack of 10 for IIRC like 5 DM (German Marks, what we had before the Euro).

Re: Marshall 800 Fuses

Hey guys, I could use your help. I'm in the USA and need fuses for my JCM800. Mojotone doesn't have them. They need to be 5x30mm they only have 5x20mm and 6x32mm.

I checked out some electrical stores here and googled searched and I can't find any. Does anyone know where I can get these fuses?

Thanks!

Re: Marshall 800 Fuses

What's your general location? I work at an electronics store and could possibly just send you some. Also, I think it is worth checking out why the fuse blew, because if something is wrong with the amp you'll just keep blowing fuses, which are there to protect the amp from receiving too much current and causing more damage. It could have been just a power surge from the wall though.

Re: Marshall 800 Fuses

Hey, that would be awesome! I'm in FL.

I'll definitely look into why it blew but I want to put in a new one and see what happens. It happened after I drove it to the studio. It was working fine at home, when I got to the studio it wasn't working.

Re: Marshall 800 Fuses

I'll look for a 500ma 5x30mm fuse. Slow-blow, right? I I can find them I'll get a few and send them to you. If the second fuse blows, then the first step I'd take would be replacing the power tubes. If you replace the power tubes and the fuse blows again, try a new rectifier tube (if your amp has a tube rectifier - I can't remember/don't know if your amp has a tube or SS rectifier).

Re: Marshall 800 Fuses

Thanks I appreciate it! Yes, it's slow-blow. I'll have to look into the tube situation. I'm hoping it's not a big problem.
