Marshall Amps - DSL5 Combo Demo

Re: Marshall Amps - DSL5 Combo Demo

Demo sounds good to me! I'd buy a head version. Never been a big fan of a single 10-inch speaker in a room.

I'm not familiar with that power tube - are they used in other amps too?

I saw the Chappers demo and I actually like the sound of the DSL5 over the DSL15. The DSL15 sounds really fizzy. But if there was a head version of this, I'd probably buy it. I'm with DankStar, the 10" speakers don't do much for me.

Re: Marshall Amps - DSL5 Combo Demo

Neither one sounds that good. The DSL 40 sounded better. Even the little 1watt DSL sounds better. Plus it's made with the cheap particleboard crap isn't it? Some of your foreign built junk even has that crap on the back panel instead of a metal grill. It's built cheap and sounds cheap. It doesn't live up to the UK made DSL. All Marshall is trying to do is make cheap crap to turn a profit. Marshall amps are about 10% cost and 80% profit. Instead, stop being so greedy and lower the prices on your UK stuff. It's not like you can't afford to do it since Marshall isn't known for using the best, most expensive parts or anything.

Yeah the Andertons demo is better than the CG/Marshall proper demo on the 5, but no use for a 1x10 combo. I would use a speaker out to my cab

Also agreed on the 15. The classic channel lacks a classic crunch like the DSL40 provides, and the gain channel is pointless and a farty mess past 10 oclock on the dial. The Haze 15 w/ 6v6s had a better gain tone than the DSL15. BUT, I have heard the DSL15 sound pretty decent with a 65 loaded 2x12.

To the OP: For the life of me, I do not understwnd why Marshall would not equip a mass market affordable line of amps with the capability to produce something that mimics the classic sound that put Marshall on the map. High gain saturated tones should not be the focus of any Marshall amp, it should be a worthwhile extra feature for those who want it.

Why is your user name 'Marshall Amps Suk?' lol :) (that is what it looks like at first glance, and second!)

Blackstar HT-5 and H&K Tubemeister 5. Maybe others as well that I don't know about. AFAIK it's a dual triode that can be used in push-pull with a single output valve.

10" speakers RULE. If love the PUNCH. I do. I'm not into competing with the bass, so I dig them.

Very cool amp. Great demo all around.

Re: Marshall Amps - DSL5 Combo Demo

Love that amp when I played it te other day. The GC in Cincy had the different one waters next to each other. Sweet day of playing.
