Wait it out for things you'll still be happy with a few years down the road. You're gonna want a tube amp after you play a solid state amp for a while so just save a little longer or buy a used tube amp. It'll be cheaper in the long run. If you buy the AVT and later sell it to buy a tube amp, you'll get no money for the AVT and therefore just be wasting cash. And by the way, don't obsess over having a halfstack. Combo's are cheaper and still sound as good if not better if you're going to be playing at lower volumes. Even if you are gigging, I played for years live with a mesa 100watt nomad 2X12 combo and sounded louder and better than all the other bands w/ halfstacks.
