Marshall AVT (some details)

The AVT Valvestate series are solid states or valve-solid state hybrids? I think they use a valve for the pre-amp and solid state components for the power amp and those models with three channels have an extra solid state circuit to push the valve pre-amp more, like a pedal (3rd channel). I'm not sure though.

Comparing the AVT to the older VS which is better?

Yeh the AVT's are hybrids, they use a ECC83 preamp ection then solid state power section...

not speaking from experience but i've heard the older VS are somewhat preferred... but don't quote me on that...

hah, had to do it.

but yea the older VS are definetly better. even tho AVTs are hybrids with a single valve preamp it's stil not a tube amp. any all tube amp is going to sound better then any solid state amp, hybrid or not, imo.

i don;t like hybrids, i have tried avt's and laney tf's and to be honest for me something is lacking in rhem
