Re: Marshall Class 5 combo

Post a photo of the back of the cabinet - they changed the design once or twice since the first run of these amps.

Re: Marshall Class 5 combo

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me that would be version 1 , I don`t see any tubes postioned on the outside of the chassis

Re: Marshall Class 5 combo

That has a 3pc back, so it's not version 1.

They had to change it up to help with the tube rattle issue on the first versions.
The one below is one that was sold when they were first released...

Re: Marshall Class 5 combo

Looks like version two. Like mentioned the first one had a one piece enclosed back and synonymous rattle. I have the one like pictured with the three piece back and mine does not rattle. The tubes are above the speaker and only visible from the top (through the grill). The latest version (I believe in 2011) had a similar three piece back with re-located tubes. It can be identified by the model number. Only the newest ones have C5-01 on the back, the rest have C5. OP check the Model No: and that will tell if it is the newest. Like I said my C5 (V2) like pictured hasn't had any rattle issues yet. Good luck!

Re: Marshall Class 5 combo

the 3 piece back was a change done to fix the rattle, but it didn't represent a new version.

A true version 2 (called the mk2 I believe) will have the low power switch.

But the point is, a 3 piece back does not necessarily tell you the version. But a 1 piece back assures you it is a version 1.
