Marshall have updated their flagship small tube amplifier - the Marshall Class 5 - and are now releasing a Class 5 MK2 with improved internal components, and a more home-friendly design.

Additional internal improvements to the Class 5 have been made. Marshall have assured customers that the price rise that accompanies the transition between the Class 5 MkI and Class5 MkII is worth it as you have a more versatile amp that is built for home use, rehearsals and gigging.

Also new from Marshall in the Class 5 range - a Class 5 Head & Cab. The Marshall C5H Class 5 Head has the same features as the combo and can be paired up with a Marshall C212 2x12 cabinet or a number of other Marshall cabs

Marshall Class 5 MKII Valve 1x12" Combo Amplifier (coming soon)
Marshall Class 5 Head C5H (coming soon)
Marshall Class 5 2x12 Cabinet C212 (coming soon)

I'm so glad Marshall was listening to the wants of consumers! I've been hoping something like this would happen.

This is ideal for someone with nice cabs to compliment it. And let's not forget about OD pedals. If you've got some nice OD pedals, this will be a perfect opportunity to run a halfstack at moderate volume. I sure hope they supply it with a 4/8/16 ohms selector!!!

Yeah, it's gonna be nice to pick your cab and speakers. There are already penty of 112 cabs that would be great, and more and more people are getting 212s. Makes for some cool little rigs.

Re: Marshall Class 5 head coming soon.

These were the only pics I could find. There's nothing about it on the Marshall site, yet. Those things will sell like crazy.

Re: Marshall Class 5 head coming soon.

I need this like a hole in the head, but I am so in for a head.

I totally dig the combo now, and with some decent tubes it rocks.

Re: Marshall Class 5 head coming soon.

I'm sure all the guys who love to mod small amps, are dying for these to come out. If I ever see one of these on ebay that's DOA, I might take it up to gut the chassis and build myself a ceriatone kit.

Re: Marshall Class 5 head coming soon.

I read about all the "mods" that people are trying, and the only thing I have done so far is drop in some better tubes.

I have some Chinese Tung Sols in there, and an NOS Mullard EL84. The Mullard added some much needed thickness and warmth.

I plug it into my 4x12, and it rocks.

+1 yeah, that's what I did with a vox actv4 head. Marshall will REALLY force my hand if they ever release a cream tolex version. :cool2:

It's not the new head version, but if you skip to 5:00 you can hear how huge a Class 5 combo sounds plugged into a Marshall 4x12:

Re: Marshall Class 5 head coming soon.

That head and 2x12 cab looks awesome.

I love my green Class 5 combo. Sick tones are easy to cop.

Re: Marshall Class 5 head coming soon.

I will be getting one. What tubes are in the Class 5 ? is it a single EL84 and single 12AX7?

Actually there are two 12ax7s. That's probably why it's so grindy.

I'm loving mine. Put a TS in V1 and an 80s Russian 84 and it sounds fantastic. I hope they release an extension cab that's the same size as the current combo.
