I sold a Blackstar Club HT-40 about a year ago. Had it about a year. One thing I observe about all the Blackstar amps I've played is they have an unusual Midrange response. There's this frequency that you can't get rid of. It's somewhere around 800-1K and it makes a nasal tonality come out. Also, as the Gain goes up on Blackstars, the note separation seems to go away. Another oddity of these amps. HT-60 also does it. I sold it to finance my Ceriatone AFD 35 50 Watt.
And honestly, I've owned a DSL 100 watt. I liked it a lot. But when I played my bud's DSL 40, I just didn't get along with it. The feel wasn't the same. My favorite from the DSL line was the DSL 50. You mileage may be different but this is my experience.
Just a thought: Ceriatone makes a 20 Watt Jubilee handwired knockoff. If I were looking in your price range, I'd go for that.
