Marshall DSL 40 CR vs Blackstone HT Club 40 ??

Re: Marshall DSL 40 CR vs Blackstone HT Club 40 ??

I sold a Blackstar Club HT-40 about a year ago. Had it about a year. One thing I observe about all the Blackstar amps I've played is they have an unusual Midrange response. There's this frequency that you can't get rid of. It's somewhere around 800-1K and it makes a nasal tonality come out. Also, as the Gain goes up on Blackstars, the note separation seems to go away. Another oddity of these amps. HT-60 also does it. I sold it to finance my Ceriatone AFD 35 50 Watt.
And honestly, I've owned a DSL 100 watt. I liked it a lot. But when I played my bud's DSL 40, I just didn't get along with it. The feel wasn't the same. My favorite from the DSL line was the DSL 50. You mileage may be different but this is my experience.
Just a thought: Ceriatone makes a 20 Watt Jubilee handwired knockoff. If I were looking in your price range, I'd go for that.

Got curious, but the only 20w Ceriatone shows is a JTM Black Flag copy from what I could find on their site?

Price is reasonable though

Thanks for the info. I find some Mesa amps have a midrange tone that you can't seem to get rid of and I don't like them because of that.
People say that the latest DSL 40 CR amps are different sounding from the last ones (that don't have R in the name) and sound much better. Are you referring to the newer ones?
In any case that's great food for thought!

Look on this Site:
http://www.guitarampsusa.com/

They're a US distributor for Ceriatone. You'll see all the various models they have. The 2525 is the one I thought was cool. Also thought 2202HW looks promising. Talk a look and see what you think.

Agreed on the Boogie thang. Although I do like the new Triple Crown. But it's spendy.
