Marshall ED-1 Compressor - Any comments?

Hey guys.

I've been offered a Marshall ED1 Compressor pedal for a low price, and was just wondering if anyone here has ever used 1, or have any comments about it?

In the past, I've only ever used Compression when I've been recording and am not really sure where/if I'd use it in a live setting. But at the price I've been offered it at, I considered getting it just to play about with to see how I like it.

Anyone have an opinion of this pedal?

Thanx for any replies.

I really like mine . . . can use it to get some smooth Santana sounds, some great funk rhythm, and of course, the obligatory Chili Peppers tune "Under the Bridge". It's quiet (unless you're super sqashing all of your notes), and very adjustable.

Thanx for the post Stv :)

I wouldn't use it for heavy Compression as I hate sounds that have been over compressed. I'd prob use it more to smooth out volume changes when I change from using a Strat to an LP etc.

Thanx again for your post.

No prob. I find that the best use for a compressor is when you're playing a lot of chord/single note rhythm at the same time . . . throwing a little compression on helps everyone hear what you're doing without overpowering everyone with volume.

I replaced my BOSS CS-3 with the ED-1 but I would trade with top up my ED-1 with a CS-2

I felt that the ED-1 could give better sound compression than most of the average compressors. Perhaps its all pure phychology.

Thanx for the posts guys.

I'll probably get the epdal, as it's very cheap. So if I don't sue it, I could always Ebay it :)
