Also, is how they break when they are in the sweet spot and, I prefer how EL34s and EL84 break, while I a don't like how 6V6GT do it. Just my personal preference (and I had 3 different 6V6GT based amps, and still retain one!).
For sure, the circuit gives the amp foundational tone but, power tubes make differences. Try an EH 6V6GT and a Tung Sol 6V6GT... sound the same?. NOPE!.el84s break up in a gritty way, they probably want to retain the punch and smoothness that marshall overdrive is known for. el84s may make it sound more like a vox. in fact power tubes dont even matter that much, it's the circuit...
