SS rectifiers in the DSLs.
The thing is though that dropping the DSL down to 50 watts really doesn't make the amp that much quieter because you only lose 3db by cutting your watts in half. He'll probably lose a little headroom in his cleans at simular levels and maybe a little more grind out of his gained channels but 3db isn't a huge difference in the land of Marshalls.
If he is just looking to lower his levels, a power soak might be a better way to go.
It seems to me that you also need to change the output impedance when you pull a set of power tubes but don't quote me on that.
