Marshall JVM

Re: Marshall JVM

Ah, I misunderstood your previous post. Sure, I can see how Marshall clean doesn't compare to Fender clean.

Are there any great amps out there that can compete with Marshall OD and Fender clean, all in one neat box? (Not talking about the Valvetronix series here.)

Well, you'll always have to compromise if you want that. Some amps do a good job, though:

Riveras have a good rep as far as getting a fender clean and marshall od in one box.

The mesa roadster has good cleans and a nice marshall-esque blues channel. Probably good enough to fool anyone if there wasn't an actual marshall onstage with it. Plus the mesa high gain thing. Cool amp.

Re: Marshall JVM

My fear is that all those buttons will fail early on. At least with the Mesas, there are hard switches that can be replaced. I worry about the digital push button stuff. I bought one of those Dan donegan digitech pedals and the switch got iffy REALLY fast..

Yup, I worry about those buttons as well. If the amp lasts thirty years, you can bet your 4x12 that the buttons won't last one-third as long.

Lots of freakin knobs and stuff on that thing! :biglaugh: Another reason I can't stand alot of the Mesa stuff! All those switches,push/pull crap! Just me though...

LOL...I am a big Mesa fan, but I can see what you mean by that statement. They made the F-Series (great amps, I haven't tried the replacement Express series yet) for those that like fewer gizmos. I think Mesa does a good job of catering to different tastes without losing their tonal identity.

And I still like looking and reading about the newest Mesa stuff,as I Know they've gone above and beyond the Dual Rec Solo and Tremoverb stuff...I was using a Tremoverb and I bought it new over 10 years ago already...

I Like the mix of the Rectifier sound, but I also prefer a clean BF Fender type sound and also the singing tone Santana gets from something like the MK1 series...They're basically shooting for that and probably are there by now?
