The cabinet on the Marshall Haze 40 is largely constructed of particle board.

Some of the modern Marshall amplifier designs achieve extreme gain by employing IC op amp stages.

Since this thread originally began, Marshall launched the Malmsteen Plexi head. I am no fan of YM but his signature amplifier is a great design.

Or even go for a Blackstar HT40, 2 cleans and 2 drive voicings. Driven Marshall tones if you want them, but also sparkling Fender cleans in the same amp. Cheap too

+1. Better amp than those particular Marshalls.

There have been threads here with numerous posts saying there's issues with Hazes breaking down. Not an amp known for it's reliability. Not much of a 'deal' if it's not working.

I don't know about that. The MA50C has a great Marshall clean channel. Not loud at 40watt but very very clean tho still retaining the Marshall sound. The overdrive sound is much more high gainish. The Haze has a more modest rock feel about it. Sorta JTM50 combo feel....

Both cabinets I think are MDF. But otherwize build quality is great. There was an issue with the spring reverb with the MA50C. I am having mine replaced now. The Haze has digital fx. If the budget is there the new DSL40C is amazing. Because they come in severall exteriors. Wich is amazing.

I am a Marshall fanboy...and I would not recommend either of those.
