There are far better amps out there for the same price than the MG series, and thats coming from one of the few people who doesn't think they are total crap. I get ok bedroom tones from mine, but i would certainly not buy an MG again if i had the chance, the distortion is very 'buzzy', definately try before you buy.

Yea the MG's are ok, personally i prefer my mate's Peavey Bandit though. I think it sounds better generally compared with the MG. Lets face it, the Mini-Stack idea is for people with cash to burn and who want a laugh. There is no extra real benefit for having that kinda thing for practise purposes!
If you want a good practise amp, check out roland cubes.

If you can find one, grab up one of the Lead 12 mini-stacks. Much better sound than the new MG version. I see them fairly ofter for about the same price as the MG version.

Ya i remember those LEAD 12's.... really good sounding mini amps.. I just like the look of them... The mini Hiwatt stacks look cool too! I remember that Trevor Rabin on the Yes Big Generator tour had a Bradshaw rig and his main distortion unit was a modded Lead 12 head.... Trevor liked the sound of Solid State distortion
Friend of mine gave me a beat up Marshall MG10cd combo amp for $10...... It sounds kind of fuzzy but for $10 it was worth it... It's just a little wee thing with 6 1/2 inch speaker....

I forgot to mention , i'm pretty sure the the LEAD 12 stack were called MICRO STACKS, & marshall had a MINI STACK 2 x 4x10 cabs,w/ a mosfet ss head, i got rid of the head & still have the 2x 4x10 cabs purch new @ GTR Center - about the mid 80s...................rammer

Back in the 80's i had a 1x12 Lead sieres Marshall combo that was pretty cool... I wish i had never sold it.. But at the time i got a good buck for it... Think i paid close to $450 for it around 1987 and got $350 for it when i sold it 2 years later...
