Marshall MG250DFX

Anyone have experience with these amps? My friend at work just gave me one, he says it probably needs a female power cable jack then it's mine. I know it's the MG series which wont compare to the tube amps but without using it yet it does look decent. I'll probably end up selling it though. I live in an apartment and I've had a 120 watt amp which you can't keep quiet, it's either off or vibrating the building. Let me know what you think of these things. Let me know if anyone is interested in it once I get it working.

Re: Marshall MG250DFX

i had a couple MG combos acquired through deals, needless to say i offed all of them. the distortion was super rough for my tastes. Junk in my opinion. if you're gonna use a dist pedal then that may be another story. sell it and use that cash for something you REALLY want.

Re: Marshall MG250DFX

I am a pedal guy so I don't pay too much attention to the onboard distortion (they usually suck IMO). I have a Blackstar HT5-H with a Celestion now so it's not like I'm pressed for an amp. I read some reviews on MF and they were good but they also sounded like a bunch of kids with their 1st amp so I figured I'd check here with seasoned veterans.

Re: Marshall MG250DFX

They are workable with a dirt box in front.
Forget about the onboard gain. It's useless, too raspy and scooped even with the contour on zero and the treble buried.
The clean sounds are meh and the onboard FX weren't much good I remember.

I hate that MG model in particular.
